Questions Before You Share
Stopping the spread of misinformation starts with you.
Social media algorithms reward outrage. You can break the cycle.
Ask Before You Share
- Did I read the whole article, or just the headline?
- Does this confirm my bias so perfectly that it feels suspicious?
- Is this designed to inform me, or to make me angry?
- If this turns out to be false, will I post a correction?
- Would I share this if it supported the other side?
The Standard
Apply the same sharing standard regardless of whether you agree with the conclusion. If you would fact-check it before sharing when it contradicts your view, fact-check it when it confirms your view too.
