How the System Works
Rule of Law
Why process must apply to everyone equally.
The rule of law requires two things: the rules are written down and public, and the rules apply to government officials exactly as they apply to private citizens. There are no special classes.
Civic literacy is essential for maintaining institutional integrity. We examine the principles that support the framework — and the outcomes of procedural erosion.
Why Equality Under Law Matters
When powerful people operate outside the law, the rule of law is dead regardless of what the statutes say. The principle only functions when it is applied without exception.
The Alternative
The alternative to rule of law is rule of men. In such a system, outcomes depend on who you know and what power you hold — not on what the law says. This is the defining characteristic of arbitrary government.
